Compressed gas:
This information is for residents living in flats. If you’d like information on compressed gas for residents living in houses, tap here.
- Unless for medical reasons, you mustn’t use or store compressed gas within your flat. Gas in cylinders can become a major hazard in a fire and must always be stored safely.
If you’re required to use and store compressed gas for medical reasons, such as oxygen, you must inform us and the Fire Service.
We have a duty to display signage outside your flat to make the Fire Service aware that oxygen is being used in the property.
You can call 0800 555 815 to arrange a Home Safety Check with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to discuss the safe storage of compressed gas.
- Always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions when using or storing compressed gas.
Can I install my own solid fuel appliance or log burner?
We won’t grant permission for you to install a solid fuel fire or log burner in our flats.
If a solid fuel fire or log burner which you haven’t had permission from us to have installed is identified at your property, we’ll insist that it be removed.
